Google India has announced Mapathon 2013, the country's first mapping competition. It is a crowdsourcing initiative aimed to improve Google Maps in India.

VW's Double Back : A Compressed RV
It was over thirty years ago that Volkswagen first started offering "pop tops" on its camper vans. In the years since, the soft-sided interior height-extenders have become a common sight on VW vans parked in campgrounds all over the world. Now, Welsh company Overlander Motorhomes is offering what it sees as the logical compliment to the pop top - it's the DoubleBack, a sliding insulated pod that extends the interior length of Volkwagen's T5 Transporter van.

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe on second day of second week of February each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.
Safer Internet Day 2013 will be the tenth edition of the event, and will take place on Tuesday 5 February 2013. The theme for the day is 'Online rights and responsibilities', which will encourage users to 'Connect with respect'. |

Gold Shirt wort 1 crore 27 lakhs
It is often said that money can't buy love.
But trying telling that to a wealthy Indian man who splashed out 1 crore+ on a solid gold shirt in the hope it will attract female attention.
Datta Phuge 32, from Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pune), commissioned the shirt which took a team of 15 goldsmiths two weeks to make working 16 hours a day creating and weaving the gold threads.
Cinema NINJA : Hilarious concept
The Prince Charles Cinema, in London's West End, has come up with a unique solution to the problem of patrons using their cell phones, throwing popcorn, or having conversations during a movie: NINJA.
The Cinema has teamed up with Morphsuits, a Scottish company that produces skin-tight, head-to-toe zentail suits, to create their own volunteer movie theater "ninja task force."
These 'theater ninjas' aren't actually trained in the dark arts of Ninjutsu - they're simply film lovers who provide their services in exchange for free admission to films.

Ubuntu: Now for Smartphones
The Ubuntu operating system has been adapted to run on smartphones. The code will initially be released as a file which can be installed on Samsung's Galaxy Nexus phone, replacing Android.
Ubuntu's founder, Mark Shuttleworth, said he was in talks with manufacturers for devices to be sold with the system preinstalled within the year.
It is for the first time in history you have the full consumer PC platform available on a phone.

Da Vinci Tower- Dubai
The Dynamic Tower (also known as Dynamic Architecture Building or the Da Vinci Tower) is a planned 420-metre (1,378 ft), 80-floor moving skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, designed by architect David Fisher. The entire tower will rotate 360° while changing shape. A single rotation will take 90 minutes.

Odisha bans gutkha, tobacco sale
The Odisha Government on Tuesday announced a State-wide ban on the manufacture, sale and use of gutkha and chewing tobacco containing nicotine. With this, Odisha joined 18 other states having similar prohibition on tobacco in food products.
“I appeal to people to co-operate with the State Government to make Odisha a tobacco-free State,” Health and Family Welfare Minister Damodar Rout said.
A notification in this regard will be issued in a day or two, he added.
