Tsunami Alert in Japan

A strong earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter Scale hit Northeast Japan on Friday evening. While there is no threat of a widespread Tsunami, residents of some areas have been asked to evacuate. 

The epicentre of the quake was about 300km (183 miles) from Kamiashi - off the East Coast of Honshu - at a depth of about 33km, the US Geological Survey said. 



As per latest reports, no destructive pacific-wide Tsunami is expected. However, resident of Miyagi Prefecture, that was devastated by the 2011 Tsunami have been asked to move to higher ground.

Television showed cars bobbing in water along side fishing boats. A 50 cm tsunami hit Japan's northern coast.
